Sustainability at Rensselaer

The 800 pound gorilla in the room question for any sustainability program is “how do we know what we are doing is working?” I suspect that if you took any ten people actively involved in sustainability initiatives and asked them to both define sustainability and provide measures of a successful sustainability program one would get ten significantly different answers. An excellent but rather turgid discussion of sustainability and metrics can be found at the wilkepdia site and I encourage everyone to attempt to wade through this piece; if nothing else it will take care of insomnia if you are so afflicted.
